Being part of a brand that feels like home

Hey! I’m Uwa and I’m studying Medicine at the University of Nottingham.

Way back in August 2021, I remember seeing really engaging videos from other UniHomes ambassadors across TikTok. After being both intrigued and excited by this, I went on to research what exactly a #unihomesambassador was!

To my surprise the program was everything I wanted to be part of and more; a supportive community, room for growth, direction, exciting challenges, and rewards! Being a student who’s active on social media, passionate about engaging with other students, and who and loves creating content, I felt that I was well suited to working with UniHomes. So, I applied and following a successful interview, I’ve been a part of the program ever since!

Uwa Brand Ambassador

One thing I love about the program is that it’s very accommodating to uni students. We’re required to submit a minimum of 4 tasks a month, and as each task never takes longer than an hour to complete, I can easily balance being an ambassador alongside my medical studies.

My uni course is very demanding, and I’ve found it difficult to work a part time job as well as attending placement throughout the week. However, with UniHomes, I’m able to earn money by doing something which I love, and rather than interfering with my uni life – it compliments it.

We’re mainly tasked with creating short TikToks in line with current trends (all of which should be relevant to student life). We’re provided with a brief for each task, but we’re free to add our own creative spin. One of my most successful UniHomes TikToks is this one which has 600k views!

Another thing I enjoy about the tasks is that they push me out of my comfort zone. Before being an ambassador, I never would’ve created and shared quizzes to my IG story (due to the fear of people ignoring them), but in reality so many people join in and respond – it’s great.

Working with UniHomes has enhanced my CV by providing me with the opportunities to work on various social media campaigns. For example, I was a part of one of the first #UniHomesTV series in September 2021, where I interviewed students on their night out to ask them questions about student life & more. I’ve also been fortunate enough to create TikToks for various brands through UniHomes such as Missguided; where I was gifted various décor items to highlight in my videos – and still have them up in my uni room now!

I also need to give praise to our fab Campaign Managers… from the endless support and encouragement, to gifting us with incredible rewards – they really are the best. If I’ve ever had an issue submitting a task or any problems, I’ve always felt comfortable dropping them a message, knowing they’ll be accommodating.

Alongside their support, and the enthusiasm of other BAs, I know that I’m part of an encouraging and caring community. I love that I’m able to work alongside like-minded students who’re all just as passionate about creating content, whilst promoting awareness of a great brand. I both appreciate and feel loved when I see supportive comments on my videos from other BAs and in turn reciprocate this energy to them!

The UniHomes BA program has provided me with endless opportunities to develop transferrable skills, network with new people & various brands, earn an income and lots more – all without compromising my studies! I’m grateful to be part of this amazing big, blue group 💙
